Jaggery is a less refined form of sugar mostly made from sugarcane or date syrups. This is a healthy alternative to our regular white sugar and has plenty of benefits. Jaggery is a common sweetener in South Asia. It is also called Gur.

Jaggery is gaining popularity because it is considered a super healthy sweetener. Jaggery is packed with antioxidants, minerals, essential nutrients and vitamins. It has antimicrobial properties that can also treat infections. It is also known as medicinal sugar.

Jaggery also helps to detoxify your body and helps in eliminating constipation. It cleans your gut. Which is extremely important to improve overall health and getting rid of many diseases. Jaggery also improves hemoglobin i.e. improves blood quality.

It has iron and folic acid which is great for people with anemia to consume.

Jaggery has anti-inflammatory properties that can also prevent impurities from building up on your skin and help you keep your skin blemish-free. The topical application of jaggery also helps to treat acne and acne scars.

2- Reduces Wrinkles:

Jaggery has anti-aging properties and that help to prevent and reduce wrinkles. It is mixed with sesame seeds and other beneficial herbs to treat premature aging in Ayurveda. DIY Jaggery Face Masks:

Now we know how beneficial jaggery can be for our body and skin health when taken orally. Let’s look at some face masks to use jaggery topically in our skincare routine.

Mask #1: Serum Mask

This is more of a serum than a mask because of its consistency. But you need to wash it off so ill call it a serum mask. Use mask#2 if lemon juice is not tolerated by your skin. So you will need to:

1- Take half a cup of water.

2- Add 1 tablespoon of Honey, 1 tablespoon of Jaggery, and a few drops of Lemon Juice.

3- Let it sit for 5 minutes then mix everything together.

4- Apply the mask on your face and massage for a minute.(If it gets dry then apply a little more)

5- Let it on for about 15 minutes.

6- Rinse it off with luke warm water.

Mask #2: Face Pack

Use this jaggery face mask if your skin does not like lemons. My skin does not like turmeric so I skip adding turmeric in this face mask.

1- Take a bowl

2- Mix in 1 tablespoon of Jaggery and 1 tablespoon of Rose Water.

3- Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes to let the jaggery dissolve.

4- Now add 1 tablespoon of Graham Flour.

5- Add 1/4th teaspoon of turmeric.

6- Mix mix mix.

7- Apply onto cleansed face for best results.

8- Keep it on for about 15 minutes.

9- Wash off with luke warm water.
